Designed and built to last

Lowes Industries have been designing and building road tankers and trailers for over 50 years. Whatever your bulk transport haulage needs, we can engineer a solution that will be unmatched in terms of functionality, suitability, serviceability and most important of all quality. Because it is the quality of a Lowes build that sees them outlast the competition and provide our customers with the greatest return on their investment.

Whilst we are predominantly transport engineers, we are more than capable of undertaking any general engineering task, no matter how big or small. If quality is your focus, then call us, you’ll be surprised at what we can offer.

At Lowes, a tanker is more than just a utility, it is the embodiment of everything your business stands for. It is only after we really understand your business and your needs that we can put together a tanker build most suited to your requirements. There is no such thing as an “off the shelf” tanker at Lowes, in our opinion that concept just will not return the maximum return on your investment, nor portray your company as you want. Talk to us, we’ll listen and then put together a build that will keep on delivering for you well after you thought possible.

Petroleum

Lowes Petroleum tankers are considered the premium tanker in the industry. No compromise is allowed in the pursuit of excellence aimed at producing a tanker that outperforms and outlasts any competitive tanker. Our 50+ years of experience has placed us at the forefront of tanker design. Our chassis and sub-frames are designed for New Zealand’s demanding road and farm track network (which are some of the worst you will experience anywhere in the world) and there are many examples of 30 plus year old Lowes tankers still delivering profits for our customers with minimum downtime.

Compare this with the alternatives. We have seen some of these display cracking and signs of overstressing after as little as 5 or 6 years! Certainly not what you want if you plan to build a long term profitable business.

We recommend you ask the hard questions and here’s a good one to start with - “what is the design life on your barrel?” and judge for yourself.

By the way, (and we are happy to be clear on this) a Lowes barrel is designed to last >20 years of normal operation, which is why they are still out there delivering profits after 30 years.

So for a great investment in your future, come and talk to us. We’ll listen to you and then deliver a great product.

About

At Lowes Industries we truly put you first in every situation – you need something, we will listen – and if we believe we can add value, then we will design and deliver it. And on the odd occasion when we think we are not best placed to help, then we’ll be man enough to tell you and point you in the right direction. Either way, when you come to Lowes, we’ll help you to find a solution.

Did you ever feel you were being “shoehorned” into something not quite as you imagined? That you would have to settle for what is available instead of what you needed?

No other tanker or trailer manufacturer considers your needs to be quite so paramount as Lowes do.

Every tanker we build is individual; designed and laid out to your specification, to suit your specific needs, but blending our experience to give you the very best solution. Not something you buy “off the shelf” and then have to adjust your operation and training regimes to suit.

When quality and service are important, then Lowes Industries exceeds expectation.

Over the past 50+ years we have gained an enviable reputation for building the best tankers available – a reputation we tirelessly defend and work hard to maintain.

The road transport network in New Zealand is tough on vehicles. The constant switchbacks, reverse and double cambers, place an enormous strain on your vehicles chassis and suspension. Particularly so when you are hauling rigid tank barrels. To get real value for money, you need a vehicle designed for this environment rather than one designed elsewhere and imported here because it appears to be cheaper. As you well know, there is generally a good reason why something is cheaper and 9 times out of 10 that is not going to benefit you in the long run.

Because we also undertake a full vehicle maintenance servicing facility, we constantly see vehicles coming in to us for major repairs after as little as 5 or 6 years of service. Invariably these are imported vehicles with simple extruded chassis and subframes that are clearly not designed for our environment.

Don’t be fooled into investing into a vehicle that will not last the distance. Invest in a Lowes tanker and enjoy many years of trouble free service. You will know only too well the cost of having a vehicle off the road, the little that might be saved up front is very soon forgotten when your customer needs your product and you can’t deliver.

Real quality is priceless, but doesn’t cost the earth.

Lowes is a family business and since 2007 when John and Sue Metcalf purchased the company, we have worked steadily on building our product range, further improving our build quality (even though some would thought that was not possible). We recently embarked on a manufacturing excellence program embracing LEAN principles which has delivered outstanding results in our build times and cost.

All of this has been brought about because you, the customer, needed something specific and we made it happen for you. We listen until we understand your unique circumstances – then we set about coming up with the very best solution.

Whatever your specific requirements, we can engineer the finest solution available.

Every job we do is different; every item leaving our workshop is built to the highest standard and to your individual specifications.

In today’s economy, with rates under increasing pressure we believe that each operator is searching for that little difference which will give them the edge and help them to return a profit.

It is in finding this edge that we specialise!

If you are looking for a tanker that is designed around what you need, a tanker that is built to last, then look no further.

Talk to us, we'll listen.

Quality

There is no such thing as compromise at Lowes.

Every tanker we produce is built by craftsmen who are focused on delivering to you the very best that money can buy.

Because we maintain all our tankers, we know that the little which might be saved by buying a cheaper tanker today, is very quickly forgotten when things start to go wrong tomorrow.

Because we service all makes of tankers, we know how they operate, we know what works and more importantly - what doesn't.

Working with you, we design our tankers to make your life as an operator easier and your business more profitable.

Now, what more could you want?
